Brief Consultation Series for Parents

Parent consultations are a short-term service that can be accessed without a mental health diagnosis.

Consultations typically include a brief discussion of your concerns, tailored resource suggestions, and collaborative problem-solving to help you implement the strategies and guidance provided.

Consultations do not replace treatment for mental health conditions. Rather, they provide a flexible option for families who want targeted guidance, are navigating a specific concern, or are interested in preventative strategies.

What a Brief Consultation Series May Include

Over the course of several meetings, we may:

  • Clarify the child’s developmental or emotional needs

  • Identify patterns contributing to behavior or anxiety

  • Develop and refine parenting strategies

  • Review what is working and adjust approaches as needed

  • Consider whether therapy, evaluation, or other supports may be helpful

Sessions are typically scheduled over several weeks, depending on family needs.

When a Brief Consultation Series May Be Helpful

A short series of consultations may be helpful when families:

  • Want support implementing strategies over time

  • Are navigating a new or evolving concern

  • Would benefit from follow-up guidance after an initial consultation

  • Are waiting for therapy services and would like interim support

Consultation Format

Consultations are typically conducted with parents or caregivers, though in some situations a child or teen may briefly join a session if clinically appropriate.

Consultations are educational and strategy-focused and do not involve formal diagnosis or ongoing psychotherapy.

Consultations can be done virtually or in person.

Scheduling

Families are welcome to begin with a single consultation session before deciding whether additional meetings would be helpful. Because consultations are short-term, appointments are often available sooner than ongoing therapy.
